NDTV’s popular tv program Gadget Guru featured a independence day special episode dedicated to the hands on review of the 35$ Indian Tablet PC. The show completely shattered skeptical claims that such a product is not practical at 35$.
But, Indian HRD minister Kapil Sibal came to the show and reviews the numerous possibilities of this android device as a educational tool for students. He has promised that the gadget will be made available exclusively for Indian students for a price of Rs. 1,500.

Features of the Indian Tablet PC "Sakshat"


  • Tablet Runs on Android OS

  • Contains a mini USB port, a mini SD card slot, a SIM card slot and video out

  • 2GB RAM

  • It has a camera (VGA)

  • Wifi and 3G enabled

  • Resistive Touchscreen

  • It will not be released in retail market but will be made available exclusively to Indian students and will be supplied to the universities directly by the government.

  • The minister says he is open for any help in innovating further.

  • It is both battery and solar power operated.

  • Has a default ebook reader, and virtual keyboard.
