If you already have a good antivirus installed on your PC then you might find the automatic scanning feature in Firefox a bit annoying, especially if you have downloaded a large file the scan takes place for minutes. But you can easily stop firefox from scanning for viruses after downloads.

Step 1 : Open Firefox, Go to your address bar, type about:config and press Enter.
Step 2 : Type scan in the Filter field.
Step 3 : Locate the entry browser.download.manager.scanWhenDone.
Step 4 : Double-click that entry to change from true to false. or right-click and select Toggle
From now on, Firefox will no longer auto scan downloads after they are finished.
